lowfat creamy pasta
I KNOW this recipe calls for mushrooms (I dont like them....they dont like me...not sure what I would sub here...) and frozen peas (dont like those either unless they are hiding with a whole bunch of other veggies...I think I would sub frozen spinach instead) but I love the idea for the creamy sauce...may or may not use the ham...I love chicken in a creamy sauce

I have my own favorite go to recipe for chili...and I know Josh would love for me to just leave it alone, it's just fine the way it is...but I like to experiment a little bit....I also love her ideas of a chili burger, "traveling tacos" aka frito pie, and chili stuffed bell peppers...baked in the oven for 20-25 min at 375...brilliant and easy!

spanish style rice and beans
from rachael rays 30 minute meals
rice and beans
I think rachael ray is cute and all, I used to love to watch her shows, but once I got one of her cookbooks, I got a bit disillusioned....her recipes use like a GAZILLION ingredients, some of which are a little challenging (or expensive) to find, and she uses a TON of bowls/pans/utensils....so her 30 minutes DEFINITELY does NOT include shopping time OR clean up....regardless...I am looking for more ways to make inexpensive tasty meals, surely I can use this recipe as a base to make a slightly easier version

slow cooker yogurt
we are using a lot of yogurt and noticing that the ingredients of store bought flavored yogurt include sugar as the #2 and hfcs as the #4....so we are looking into saving money by making our own....it's supposed to be cheaper too....we'll see....
from food.com
this one uses a thermos, which we dont have....hm....
this one initially calls for sf pudding mix, which I am NOT a fan of...but later says you can use dry milk
this one is basically the same recipe as the one above, but gives more details and has some updates...turns out a lot of the other crockpot yogurt recipes are based off this one....hm.....it doesnt use specific temps, so no need for a thermometer...might be the recipe I use FIRST!
Mckmama has gotten on the yogurt bandwagon and has posted a basic recipe and several updates: greek yogurt, yogurt troubleshooting tips, even thicker yogurt here...her recipes call for specific temperature management

seasonal eating
we are trying to get the grocery budget under control, so I am looking into eating more vegetable and vegetarian recipes (plus healthier too!) in season to try to control costs, use what is growing locally or better yet in my garden.
cooking light.com has a page about this...lets see how long it stays active:
seasonal eating
we also recently acquired the cooking channel and I am getting to know their website. one thing I noticed on their homepage was halfway down on the left side and it allows you to choose what kind of meal you want to make with seasonal produce
turns out food network has a seasonal eating page too
